Omg. This is the most amazing idea ever. Just saw your work on pinterest. So I visited your website and wondered where in the US you’d be located. Was over the moon to hear you’re in Vancouver (yay!!). I’m in Burnaby am Going to put this on my Facebook page cuz its priceless!! My kids are older 20, 14 so too bad as I would have jumped on this for sure. Am going to tell people I know that have small kids. Kudos to you.

I LOVE that you are based out of Vancouver. I always get discouraged when I find artisans I like and they are based out of country. I can’t wait to encourage my niece to draw me something AMAZING.

Also – If you are ever serious about needing an extra pair of hands, I’m a Vancouverite, been sewing for 28 years and I have a very flexible schedule. :)

You need to take out a loan and hire some employees, patent the idea, go on Shark Tank to ask for help, call Jeff Bezos for some advice on how he made the leap from his garage to NASDAQ…something! I found out about you on Pinterest. You know what that means, right? You’re about to be inundated (even more) with requests. What a great idea! FANTASTIC work too! Good luck! :)

I am not a parent, nor can I sew (with a machine), nor am I Canadian… but I want to help you keep making softies because you are amazing and your gift is something I would hate to see lost to overwhelming demand and pressure that is sure to come. Too much business is a good problem to have, they say. I hope that you are able to find help so that you can enjoy your craft and still have a life of your own. Your blog has inspired so much and I needed that.

Absolutely INSANE business idea!! So glad to see you’re local too! Have you thought of hiring a student to help you out? Someone in VCC or Emily Carr or some fashion college? I’m sure someone is looking for a short term intern position! Who knows, you might even qualify for a wage subsidy since you’d be employing a student. Oh and btw I’d trade you my sewing machine for two dolls based on my boys’ cartoon characters! :D

From your blog posts it’s pretty obvious you don’t want the business to “blow up” as keeps getting promised to you. If I were you, I would increase the cost of these babies to $300 each so that your orders don’t get too overwhelming! Beautiful, whimsical work, by the way! And well worth $300 for a keepsake like that.

YOU are amazing. This is a brilliant idea and it brings tears to my eyes, just thinking of my child’s drawing as a toy. This is something my mother would have loved. She was such a lover of my kids’ drawings. Oh, thank you SO much for this.

    February 7, 2012 at 10:36 pm |

Wendy, this is such a unique idea. I just saw it on Pinterest and was so excited about it, I made a spontaneous comment before I got into your site and read your request NOT to make comments until you catch up with orders. So sorry! I’m a first grade teacher in Carmel, California, and a lover of children’s art, and this is an incredible idea! Sounds like you’re going to have to hire some innovative, like-minded, creative people to help you in your rapidly expanding business–soon! I can’t wait ’til you’re able to MY order! Until then, best of luck to you!

I am floored and speechless. You seriously are a genius! You need to patent this immediately if you haven’t already and contact a lawyer who can help you grow your business. As well as an accountant. This is your calling and your purpose! You are a true “Willy Wonka”. You are bringing to life the imaginations of our children and it is truly inspiring. I urge you to PLEASE contact the right people to turn this business into a Fortune 500 company. Not for the money, but for all the children whose lives will be forever changed and all the parents (especially the ones whose children have gone onto be with the Lord too soon) by your God given talent and genius. These are not just stuffed toys, they are innocence and memories turned tangible. Something to hold onto and treasure. Sincerely, a mother of four daughters and friend to several who have lost children and would love to have these as keepsakes. Thank you for being you because you are amazing!:)

I too, just found you on Pinterest and immidiately wanted to order for my girlies – but then saw that you are up to your eyeballs in orders!! (GOOD FOR YOU!!!)

You are truly AMAZING!!!!! I really hope you figure out how to grow your business because taking something from a child’s imagination and bringing it to life is COMPLETELY MIND BOGGELING!!

I will bookmark your site and I can’t wait to watch you blossum!! This is IT!! You have found something AMAZING!!! And you are MARVELOUS at it!!!!!

  • Charlene

    February 8, 2012 at 5:40 pm |

I just want to say that you are AMAZING! Bringing children’s imaginations to life, in a whole new way! If i could even sew I wouldnt be able to do that. I wish that I could get one done for my daughter as she is coming to that age where drawings are starting to be more ‘normal’ and not the childhood make-believe things she use to draw. I know that you are swamped and I would never dream of asking you to make one (order one.) I just wanted to say that you have enriched and enlightened so many young children and their families, and you should be proud of who you have affected, in such a positive way.
In my opinion you should definately look into expanding, this is a million dollar idea you are sitting on. Well done!

  • ann

    February 8, 2012 at 6:14 pm |

You are clearly a Genius (capital G). How will you ever find a team of like-minded geniuses to keep up with the deluge of orders you must be receiving? My children are now 21 and 25, and I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to recreate their childhood illustrations for their own children! A brilliant concept!

  • Stephanie

    February 8, 2012 at 7:02 pm |

You should go onto Shark Tank, get some investment capital, and hire. Great idea. I’m so sick of mass manufactured items. What is more creative and special than a child’s own drawings…. absolutely, 100% brilliant.

I agree with this person. You really need to turn this into a business. You have gone viral and it wont slow down. You need help and will need to hire people to help you. You just went from small home business to C.E.O. Patent your idea if possible so people cannot copy. Great idea! Hope you enjoy the ride! =)
